What You'll See and How to Plan Your Visit

Step inside and the Nave opens up ahead of you, its tall arches and carved stonework drawing your eye toward the high altar. The Quire, lined with detailed woodwork, is where the cathedral choir sings. Up in the dome, the Whispering Gallery does what its name suggests, a whisper against one wall carries across to the far side. Keep climbing and you reach the Stone Gallery and then the Golden Gallery, both looking out over London. Down below in the Crypt, one of the largest in Europe, you'll find the tombs and memorials of Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington, and the cathedral's architect, Sir Christopher Wren. The Oculus, a newer addition, lets you look up at the underside of the dome.

St Paul's sits at St. Paul's Churchyard, London EC4M 8AD. The simplest way in is the London Underground to St Paul's station on the Central line, and several bus routes stop nearby. Sightseeing runs Monday to Saturday: 08:30 to 16:30 Monday through Friday (last entry 16:00), and 08:30 to 17:00 on Saturdays (last entry 16:30). There's no sightseeing on Sundays. As a working place of worship, the cathedral asks that you dress respectfully, so it's best to skip anything too revealing. Hours can change around services, so check the official site before you go.
