Good to Know: Pantheon Hours, Getting There & Dress Code
The Pantheon sits on Piazza della Rotonda, 00186 Roma RM, right in the historic center and easy to reach on foot from Piazza Navona or the Trevi Fountain. If you'd rather ride, bus lines 30, 40, 62, 64, 81, 87 and 492 all stop nearby, and the closest metro station is Barberini on Line A. Keep in mind it's still an active church, so hours can shift for services and special events. Because of that, dress modestly: cover your shoulders and knees, and take off any hat before you go in.

- Entry is tied to a specific time slot; late arrivals may not be admitted during busy periods.
- The museums have one entrance, but lines differ by ticket type: reserved, hosted, and guided visits use separate lanes under the white canopy near the entrance.

- Standard entry covers the full permanent route, including the Sistine Chapel, Gallery of Maps, Raphael Rooms, and Pio-Clementino Museum.
- Not included: the Vatican Gardens and Vatican Necropolis, which must be arranged separately in advance.
- Expect crowds: with over six million visitors a year, it's busiest around the Sistine Chapel and in the late morning.
- Leave time: most people spend at least 2 to 3 hours inside, and often longer.
- The route is one-way, so you can't return to earlier galleries once you've moved on.
- St. Peter's Basilica is free and separate from the museums; some guided visits include a direct internal passage from the Sistine Chapel into the basilica.
- Accessibility is partial: elevators and ramps serve some areas, but not every gallery is step-free.

- No food or drink inside the exhibition areas.
- Large bags, backpacks, suitcases, and umbrellas aren't allowed; security checks apply at the entrance.

- Check the official site for current visiting times before you go.
- Photography is allowed at the Pantheon, though flash may be restricted.
- A guided tour can add helpful context on the Pantheon's history and architecture.

- Be respectful of any religious services or ceremonies in progress.
- Don't touch or climb on the monuments or architectural features.
