About Love Valley Cappadocia
Love Valley Cappadocia sits just outside Goreme, in the stretch of countryside between the villages of Uchisar, Cavusin, and Avcilar. It's named for its fairy chimneys, the tall cone-shaped rock towers the whole region is known for, though the ones here are unusually large and slender, some rising many meters into the air. They formed the same way as the rest of Cappadocia's rock formations: layers of soft volcanic tuff worn down over millions of years by wind and water, leaving harder caps of stone protecting the softer pillars beneath. The valley floor is planted with vineyards and orchards, and walking trails run through the middle of it.
You can visit on foot, but a lot of people see the valley as part of a wider tour of the area. ATV and quad-bike routes pass through here regularly, often looping in Rose Valley, Red Valley, Kiliclar Valley, and the old cave village of Cavusin along the way. Horseback rides cover similar ground at a slower pace, and 4x4 jeep safaris reach higher viewpoints that give you a wider look down over the rock formations. Sunrise and sunset are the two times most tours aim for, partly for the softer light and partly because that's when the hot air balloons are up, drifting over the valleys in the early morning.
The valley is open landscape rather than a gated attraction, so there's no set ticket to walk in, though guided tours and activities are their own separate arrangement. Trails can be dusty and uneven, so proper shoes help, and there's very little shade once you're out among the chimneys. Bring water, sun protection, and a hat if you're visiting in the warmer months. A popular viewpoint sits on the road above the valley, giving a clear overview if you'd rather look down on the formations than walk among them.
