Good to Know Before You Go

Jardin d'Acclimatation sits in the Bois de Boulogne on the western edge of Paris, in the 16th arrondissement. The attractions are spread out across the grounds, so there's a fair bit of walking involved, which makes it work better as a half- or full-day outing than a quick stop. Most visitors spend somewhere between three and five hours here. Weekends and French school holidays get busy, so arriving soon after opening tends to be calmer if you're with young kids.

The easiest way in is Metro Line 1 to Les Sablons, a short walk from the park's main entrance; buses 244, 163 and 164 also serve the Bois de Boulogne, and a little train runs in from Porte Maillot. Hours shift with the season, generally morning to early evening and later on weekends, holidays and in summer, so it's worth checking the current schedule before you go. There's no dress code, but wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. Note that some rides have height restrictions, and a park map at the entrance helps you find your way around.
