About this tour

SUMMIT One Vanderbilt sits near the top of one of Midtown's tallest towers, right next to Grand Central Terminal, and it treats the city view as something you walk through rather than just look at. Your ticket covers all three immersive floors, including Air by Kenzo Digital's mirrored galleries, the Levitation glass skyboxes cantilevered over Madison Avenue, the Affinity room with its floating silver spheres, and the open-air Après terrace. From up here you'll see the Empire State Building, Central Park, and Manhattan spreading out in every direction. Select options add a guided tour with skip-the-line entry.

Opening Hours, Dress Code, and Getting There

SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is open every day. Hours generally run from 09:00 to 00:00, with last entry at 22:30, though the schedule can change, so it's worth confirming your date before you go. All entry is timed, so turning up about 20 to 30 minutes ahead of your slot keeps things moving. Plan on roughly an hour and a half to two hours to take in the galleries, the glass skyboxes, and the terrace without rushing.

Because so much of the space is built from mirrored floors and walls, pants, shorts, or tights are the comfortable choice; skirts and dresses can leave you more exposed than you'd like. Comfortable, non-marking soles are a good idea too. Sunglasses help on bright days, since the reflective surfaces throw a lot of light around.

The attraction sits at the top of One Vanderbilt in Midtown, right next to Grand Central Terminal, with the main entrance on Vanderbilt Avenue. You can reach it from the Main Concourse of Grand Central by following signs to the One Vanderbilt Transit Hall, from the street-level entrance at 45 East 42nd Street, or from the Transit Hall entrance at the corner of Vanderbilt Avenue and 43rd Street. Note that SUMMIT cannot be reached through the main lobby of One Vanderbilt. By subway, take the 4, 5, 6, 7, or S to Grand Central-42nd Street; several bus routes, including the M1, M2, M3, M4, M42, M101, M102, M103, and Q32, stop nearby on Madison Avenue.

How long does a visit usually take?
Most people spend about an hour and a half to two hours exploring the galleries, skyboxes, and terrace.

If you want more than a standard observation deck, yes. The mirrored galleries and glass skyboxes turn the skyline into something you move through, not just look at.
Can I buy tickets on-site?
On-site tickets may be available, but entry is timed and popular slots sell out, so booking online ahead of time is the safer bet.
When is the best time to visit?
Late afternoon into sunset is the most popular window for the view. A clear morning tends to give the sharpest long-distance views with fewer crowds.

What is SUMMIT One Vanderbilt?
It's an observation deck and immersive art space on the upper floors of One Vanderbilt, a supertall tower that opened in 2020 beside Grand Central in Midtown Manhattan.
How is it different from other NYC observation decks?
Instead of one open platform, it's a sequence of mirror-and-glass rooms designed as an experience, with floor-to-ceiling reflective surfaces that make the space feel like it dissolves into the surrounding city.
What are Levitation and Ascent?
Levitation is a pair of glass ledges that cantilever out from the building with a clear drop beneath you, and Ascent is a glass-walled exterior elevator that climbs the side of the tower to its highest point. Both usually require a separate ticket.
What landmarks can I see from the top?
The Chrysler Building and Empire State Building stand out nearby, and on clear days the view stretches across Manhattan toward Central Park and the rivers.
